Silver Medal for Tone.
We are truly honored to have received a Silver Medal for Tone from the prestigious Violin Society of America. Having participated in the "23rd International Competition and Exhibition" in Cleveland, Ohio from 4th to 9th of November we proudly travelled back to Lübeck with a silver medal for the excellent tone of one of our quartets.
We are looking forward to 2019!
One of our most important goals is to encourage you to perform music with instruments that will be inspiring for years to come: be it aesthetically, technically or tonally.
We aim to balance a profound understanding for the sound of an instrument with the personal needs and professional requirements of the musicians, while also following our ambition to manufacture instruments of the highest standards.
The key to truly excellent sounding instruments is the quality of timber a luthier's workshop can build upon, which is why we carefully and personally select every piece of wood we consider using for manufacturing our instruments. New instruments are regularly built with Spruce from the Dolomites in Italy as well as with Bosnian Maple. Our instruments are finished exclusively with oil and resin-based varnishes we have mixed from our own recipes.
Instruments leaving our workshop are unique examples of an elaborate process, handcrafted with a personal signature.
Most contemporary violin makers and musicians agree that the instruments of the Italian masters, and in particular the work of Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù and Antonio Stradivari, represent historical instruments of the most outstanding quality. In our opinion this is precisely where the aspiration of any modern maker of string instruments ought to originate from, in an attempt to connect historical knowledge and competence with the requirements and opportunities of the present.
This is why we are constantly studying the historical instruments of our predecessors, in all their details and many facets. Learning from these almost inexhaustible resources we try to create new instruments, unique in terms of sound and aesthetics and, of course, in the best tradition of craftsmanship.
